Schoolcraft College wanted to do something special for Women’s History Month so I was asked to photograph some of the women there. As I have a deep interest in women and their families, I asked if they could bring in the females in their families so I could photograph them as well. Many of them did indeed bring in their grandmothers, mothers, daughters. We had a ball!

I photographed way too many women to show them all here, but it was a great time sharing a day with these women and meeting their families, hearing their stories, and sharing laughter.

Girlie Girlie!

My sweet friend, Hillary, came along and touched up their hair, added lip gloss, and kept track of everyone. So I photographed her too with her awesome cell phone that made me jealous because it was so girlie girlie!!! They don’t make them for my phone or I’d own it too!

Beautiful at Any Age

Thanks to Charlotte for this idea that I know will bring much joy to these women and remind us all how beautiful we are at any age! We do indeed need to celebrate women! We’re amazing, awesome, magnificant beings!! I so enjoyed the 92-year-old great grandmother who came to life when she saw the back of my camera and decided she didn’t like the images! She snapped to it and the twinkle popped into her eyes and her smile beamed and she stole the show!

And then there was Majorie with her sassy wink and Josselyn with her beautiful smile and silver hair (Suzanne’s too)! Gosh I love silver hair. It’s my favorite. My mom and sister have it but not me!!!

A Day to Remember

Susan shared a lovely story about her granddaughter that made us all laugh until we cried. And Terri wanted something unique so her and her girls all laid on the ground! It was a day I will remember for a long time. These ladies gave me the gift of themselves.

I am once again reminded of the awesome responsibility and honor it is to provide a safe place for people to ‘let it all hang out’ so to speak and share a piece of themselves with me.

I left that session filled with admiration and joy for the people I get to meet and the fun it is to capture time and hold it still for a brief moment for all of us! Here’s a pic of Hil with her cell phone.
