It is always so humbling (and fun) when artists, friends, family, and clients come out to view and support your work! I met new people, saw people I hadn’t seen in a long time, and had my ‘tribe’ with me who never miss a thing of mine!
J. Love Photography has a fine art portrait and nature exhibit at Corner Cup Cafe in downtown Dexter, Michigan that runs through the end of April. My artist reception was last evening and was orchestrated by a great artist and friend, Victoria Schon. She does a lot for the arts and we’re happy to have her!
It’s always a bit nerve-wracking to have these things because you wonder if 5 people will show up! Obviously, there are a lot of patrons of the arts in the area because we had over 50 people come down!
Everyone fell in love with Singin’ in the Rain, which is sold but is a limited edition fine art print of 26, so I am able to do more of this image. There seems to be a sense of happiness and someone said ‘peacefulness’ last night from this image. This little sparrow is mighty in his power to make people smile, that I know for sure!
My new body of work is exclusively printed on canvas and there are some small pieces but there are some really large pieces as well. It was gratifying to have people express how much they enjoyed all of the work.
I even had a few people tell me they are signed up to take my four-day photography workshop in the fall at Matthaei Botanical Gardens through Budding Art Ideas. I can’t wait. This should be great fun and a wonderful learning experience for all of us.
If you haven’t seen my fine art exhibit here, please be sure to stop in! I want to thank all of you who took time out of your busy life to come down and share art, food, and wine with us at Corner Cup Cafe. This photographer and artist is counting her blessings today!

Monet said, “A farmer’s field in midday is nothing more than a farmer’s field. But in the early morning mist during a golden sunrise, it becomes a song that sings the praises of the farmer’s labors. So I continue the quest to capture the moments created by the earth’s elements that transform the mundane into the amazing in a brief moment that is gone before it is often even noticed.”
I created this image before I ever heard that quote. And I entitled it “Golden Song.” How synchronistic! I sometimes think these great artists’ hearts slip through the veil and touch us, providing us with inspiration.
I share this fine art photographic print of a Dexter spring morning image with you while Spring is just a golden song away…
Stop down at the Corner Cup Cafe (previously the Bearclaw) on Main and Broad to see some of my latest creations.
The exhibit runs March 1 until April 31.
The artist reception will be Friday, March 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Stop down! I am printing most of my work on fine art, gallery wrapped canvas now. Some work will be printed on watercolor paper, but I prefer the clean, unencumbered look of canvas. People think there will be a loss in resolution because canvas can be bumpy, but there is no such thing.
This little bird, which sold instantly, is printed on a 30×40 canvas and you can see every feather. It is entitled “Singin’ in the Rain.”
I also have two Vintage Tapestry portraits in the exhibit as well as a few other fine art works… one being my high scoring print at the Detroit Professional Photographers competition this year, which is an infrared black and white of ancient oak trees in Louisiana.
I would love your input on what you thought of the exhibit as well as what you think of the awesome opportunity Corner Cup Cafe has provided local artists once again by hanging art! Thank you, Tim! It’s been a long time since people have been able to enjoy a wide variety of local art and we have all missed it very much!
